SVP, Group Channels & Digitalisation, United Overseas Bank
Head, The FinLab
Pauline Sim started her banking career serving the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segments of the bank, covering all banking and financing requirements that SMEs have in the 15 years of her career.
In 2015, she was part of the team that set up The FinLab, the innovation accelerator of United Overseas Bank Ltd (UOB), to accelerate the best and brightest FinTech start-ups from all over the world looking to land in Singapore and capture the ASEAN market. The FinLab’s companies are seeing good success with many of them being recognised at the Singapore FinTech Festival since 2016, getting business traction and funding.
In 2018, seeing the need to support the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) looking to adopt technology and transform, The FinLab launched Singapore’s first acceleration programme for SMEs. The programme helps SMEs to access and prioritise areas of digitalisation, get matched with curated tech solution providers and get support on implementation of the pilot projects with the selected tech solutions. The programme was expanded to Thailand and Malaysia, partnering local government agencies such as National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Thailand and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in Malaysia, to support the local SMEs.
She was elected into the executive committee of Singapore FinTech Association (SFA), the association for the FinTech community in Singapore, during which she served as the Lead for Women in FinTech subcommittee between 2017 to 2019. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration (Dean’s List).
